Health Technician (Neurology)

The incumbent may be floated to any medical or surgical specialty clinic to provide support the assigned clinics/service as dictated by workload and operational need.
- Interviews patients and records subjective complaints of patients - Observes, measures, and records vital signs, including weight, height, and oxygen status.
- Performs EKGs, and other duties specific to each clinic.
- Prepares the patient for medical evaluation and treatment.
- Obtains laboratory data, X-ray results and other diagnostic reports through computerized systems and from service internal/external departments/facilities.
- Independently collects a wide range of specimens including urine, throat cultures, and wound cultures.
- Uses proper hand washing technique.
Observes proper infection control technique, according to policy and procedure in all aspects of patient care.
- Determines what the provider or nurse will need during the evaluation and treatment of patient and obtains supplies to enhance work flow and processing.
- Documents all interventions in the medical record.
- Initiates basic health teaching and/or reinforces patient education under the guidance of the healthcare provider.
- Monitors and re-stocks medical supplies and linen, and ensures that medical equipment is in operating order.
- Provides physical care to patients as needed (changing, undressing, toileting).
- Provides and documents instruction to patients and/or their significant others on specimen collection and test preparation as well as orientation to the clinics.
- Monitors the waiting room area.
- Performs crash cart checks and documents appropriately.
- Processes patients' charts in preparation for scheduled visit/appointment.
- Files results of diagnostic studies in provider mailboxes and/or the clinic.
- Orders patient records through the electronic record tracking system.
- Files results of examinations and other forms into the medical record.
- Schedules pharmaceutical or tests with community providers, if necessary.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
